This December, I had the pleasure of working alongside Collingwood College's theatre society, 'Woodplayers' as the assistant lighting designer for their production of Merrily We Roll Along. This was my first time working as a lighting designer for a theatrical production, and it was an absolute blast! Huge thanks to Valerie Devereux (lead lighting designer) and Gemma Parker (production manager), who both did such an amazing job at showing me the ropes.
If you'd like to read more about the production, consider having a look at First Night's review, and Palatinate Indigo's review. You can also find some more photos of and information about the production on the Woodplayers' Instagram account.
I've also done some lighting design for Turning Circle's freshers week performance at Collingwood College - this my first time doing any lighting design, and I had so much fun doing it.
All the lighting was stuff that I came up with in the moment - there was no prior planning, so this was quite an engaging and creative challenge. The whole experience definitely encouraged me to be more open to diving head first into something new, and it ignited my passion for lighting design.
This introduced me to a lot of basic lighting design techniques. Things like fading and moving lights to the tempo of a song, timing the use of strobes and special effects with energetic moments, creating a colour scheme to match the tone of a song, and even something as basic as how to actually use a lighting desk to begin with!
Turning Circle were such a joy to work with, they're incredibly talented and bring such an incredible energy to the stage. I'm very grateful to have had the chance to work with them :) Be sure to check out their instagram!
I've also been an executive member of the Collingwood Art Society since June of 2024, where I work alongside the other executives to organise a variety of art workshops for Collingwood College students. These range from more traditional sessions, such as still life drawing, to more novel and crafty sessions like stop motion animation. We prioritise accessibility, encouraging people of all skill levels to get involved, and ensuring all our sessions are free to attend.
Being a part of CAS has also enabled me to develop some marketing skills. I manage the creation of promotional materials (some of which you can find in my art portfolio), handle social media promotion, use analytics tools to assess the effectiveness of our campaigns and identify which type of sessions are most popular. I also use social media management tools like Buffer to create content calanders. Overall, I'd say that being involved in CAS has been an enjoyable way for me to develop some practical skills that relates to something I'm very passionate about.

I'm currently doing a Psychology BSc degree, where I learn about all sorts of topics in the field. My degree has given me the chance to learn about content that I find deeply interesting, and I've also gained some practical research experience: I've conducted both quantitative and qualitative research, analysed data, written detailed reports, and created informative videos and posters. I'm also quite adept in using both Excel and Google Sheets for data analysis - I've been making spreadsheets well before my degree, so they're something I can work with very confidently.
